Location: Whitefish Point Bird Observatory in Paradise, Michigan
Meet in front of the Owl’s Roost
The 8-10 AM Tour (2-hour Tour)
On this early morning tour, adventurers and birding enthusiasts will tour the hiking trails, shoreline, bird feeders by the Owl’s Roost, and along our boardwalks, including the Hawk Deck.
Tour Distance: 1-1.5 Miles
Birding Level: Any; from non-birders to beginning birders to expert
Trail and Terrain: Moderate; sandy beach shoreline, hiking trails on dirt paths and wood-planked boardwalks
The 11 AM-12 PM Tour (1-hour Tour)
On this late-morning tour, adventurers and birding enthusiasts will tour the boardwalks, shoreline, and the bird feeders by the Owl’s Roost.
Tour Distance: Less than 1 mile
Birding Level: Any; from non-birders to beginning birders to expert
Trail and Terrain: Easy; dirt paths and wood-planked boardwalks
Important Tour Tips!
- The WPBO Migratory Bird Walks are open to the public, for all ages, come rain or shine!
- Dress in Layers: Weather can change quickly at the Point.
- Comfortable Footwear: Sturdy, waterproof hiking boots or shoes are ideal for uneven terrain.
- Bring Binoculars: Essential for spotting birds from a distance! A field guide or birding app, such as Merlin, is also handy. We also have extra binoculars, should you need them.
- Pack Water and Snacks: Stay hydrated and energized during the tour.
- Sun Protection: Bring a hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen.
- Insect Repellent: Keep bugs at bay.
- Camera or Smartphone: Capture the birds and the beautiful scenery!
- Respect Nature: Stay on designated trails with our tour guide and maintain a quiet, respectful presence.
