Sometimes it feels like a completely different world being out here in the darkness; very dream-like. You get to see things and hear things you might not always see or hear when the sun is up which of course helps us stay awake. These night-time critters that occasionally greet us are fascinating, to say the least. You get to see a part of their life that many do not get a chance to witness.
A week ago we found a damselfly hanging from a tree branch which appeared to also be in a dream-like state; she would not budge no matter how close we got. Seeing her sleeping beauty filled me with a sense of peace… or maybe contributing to my sleepiness even more.
On the night of October 4th we were greeted by a bunch of blue-spotted salamanders and a red-spotted newt! We wondered why they chose that night to come out because we hadn’t seen them before that night and thereafter thus far but it sure was an unexpected treat.
