Although we continue to see a general slow down, we did band 24 juvenile Northern Saw-whet Owls on August 11, which is a productive mid-August night. More recently, a warm-weather system has settled over us, and the numbers have been dropping night by night. The forecast calls for this system to linger a few more days; hopefully, things will pick up a bit when it finally moves out. This summer has been disappointing for Long-eared Owls, but we were excited to have a long-eared recapture this week (pictured above). This long-eared was originally banded here as an adult by Nova Mackentley on May 16, 2020.
